Billerica TV Kitchen Studio
In the heart of Billerica Access Television's renovated space, a new era of community
broadcasting emerges with the
inauguration of the Billerica TV Kitchen Studio. Housed within an old-school building, this studio is anything
but
traditional. Designed and installed by JML Lighting, Jonathan brought
this vision to life. Adapting an old-school building for modern video production presented unique
challenges, including
integrating complex lighting, accommodating diverse users, incorporating lighting fixtures that are
inconspicuous and
effective, and ensuring suitable lighting for both close-ups and wider shots.
The Fiilex Track System emerged as the lights in shining armour for this project. Its easy installation, sleek
white
finish, and user-friendly P3X lights with softboxes addressed the myriad of challenges. The system's color
control
feature, flexibility, hue control, remote adjustments, and LED technology kept the kitchen cool and allowed
tailored
lighting solutions for each production's unique needs. Under the expert guidance of Jonathan Lipsy, the
Billerica TV
Kitchen Studio is now a beacon of community broadcasting, proving that with the right technology, even the most
unconventional spaces can become hubs of creativity and collaboration.

Lighting Design Details
This studio required a lighting solution that evenly lit the talent and culinary subjects while registering well
on
multiple camera angles in the 16'W × 14'L × 10'H space. With the talent's skin tone, and shooting requirements
for tight
culinary
shots as well as wider kitchen views, high-quality and versatile lighting was a necessary yet challenging
component to
implement in the low-ceilinged space. The Fiilex Track System with P3X lights and softboxes provided an ideal
solution -
its color control, hue adjustment, and flexibility allowed the lighting designer to tailor the illumination for
each
production's unique needs, ensuring an optimal ambiance for both close-ups and wide shots without constant
adjustments.
The sleek, unobtrusive system respected the studio's aesthetic while providing even, high-quality lighting that
showcased the talent's best look on camera.
